Water Wall Fountain: Look For High Standards When Getting A Fountain
June 25, 2009
Fountains make marvelous additions to your yard, your patio, your garden, or the interior of your house. Their rushing water provides a relaxing sound and makes you feel as if you were beside a lovely waterfall. You can purchase water fountains in assorted designs such as a gently flowing stream or a dramatically gushing geyser.
I personally have an outdoor fountain that is part of my pond in a small Japanese garden I built. The fountain is like a small waterfall where the water tumbles down several tiers of stone before making a lovely sounding when returning to the pond. The fountain is the focus of the entire garden and I spend many hours just enjoying the sound and tranquil atmosphere it creates.
Many people would like to make their own fountains. But many of us do not have sufficient time or technical know-how to build one though it is indeed very easy to make a fountain. Buyers of pre-made water fountains just need get an assembled package, add water and just plug it in. If you are making your own fountain, then perhaps the most important thing to remember is to use a pump with adequate power. The pumps on the market are usually rated in terms of gallons per minute or G.P.M. To make a fountain flow properly, you need to get as much a higher rated pump as possible.
A current trend is to utilize indoor fountains to bring the natural outdoor sounds of running water into the home. Indoor fountains create a soothing atmosphere and calm surrounding. A particular preference which is a nice feature is to install the indoor wall fountains on or into the wall with a catch basin instead of the fountain standing alone. The wall fountain creates a waterfall effect. The basin contains a pump which circulates the water back to the top to for a continual water cascade effect. Keep in mind, however, that the quality of the fountain is directly related to its wear and tear. A cheap fountain could leak easily and create unintended water damage to the home.
Something to think about when putting in a water feature inside or outside your home, is to be aware of the quality of the basin and to make sure it won’t leak. If you take the fountain outside and turn it on for awhile, this can help you determine if there are leaks. If you have a home that isn’t very sturdy, having a water feature inside can be disastrous.
For anyone looking out to transform any space, indoors or outdoors, water fountains are one of the best options available. They add an element of beauty and a sense of peace and tranquility outside in the garden or right inside your living room. Depending on a variety of ways in which you can install them, they can transform the given area into an interesting and lovely place.
Water fountains are wonderful focal pieces for a garden or even inside your home. The fountains can come in a varied style from “natural” stream with a babbling brook to elegant center pieces that shoot streams of water like geysers.
